Toller Cranston (Pre-Order)

Artist who created 20,000 paintings and participated in 300 international exhibitions.

Toller considered himself an artist. Period. He studied the Renaissance masters whom he much admired. He examined their techniques, their brush strokes, their use of colour. His admiration for the great artists was profound but he did periodically observe that great as they were, neither Leonardo nor Michelangelo could execute a double axel. Toller was an artist who skated. He utterly rejected the idea that he was a skater who painted.
He had zero tolerance for stupidity, rigidity, mediocrity, incompetence, or half-assed effort. He was a fearless, caustic force and fully unflinching in everything he said and did. An artist on ice, in the studio, and in his life.
Toller Cranston died of a heart attack in 2015 in Mexico. He was 65. His headstone in San Miguel de Allende reads Toller, Artist, 1949–2015, Zero Tolerance.
